Features : Just a little fingerstyle!

Hi all,

Went to The Living Strings (behind Peninsula Hotel) yesterday. Was very fortunate to have spoken to the owner Timothy. The last time that I met him was a few years back when the shop was at Bras Basah (now taken over by Guitar Workshop). Nice guy. He played me some awesome impromptu fingerstyle and was even happy to share with me some of his fingerstyle techniques!

Was so inspired by his playing that I decided to record my version of "Every Breath You Take" by Sting that I figured out recently. Did this in a rush before going out so pardon the mistakes. And also I recorded it using a webcam so the quality's not too good. I know it looks very unglam to play in green shorts but hey, don't you all practice in shorts at home too! ;P

Events : Battle of the Bands highlights (heats)

Hi all,

The World Battle of the Band competition's finally over. Even though my band didn't win, we still felt a sense of achievement as a band for working hard and putting on a good show. Wanna share with you all some of the highlights of the competition. I've some problem with the videos captured in the finals as my videocam decided to die on me. Gonna send it for repair on friday. Hope to me able to show you the footage. Anyway just enjoy these clips from the heats! :)

This is a follow up to what I've posted something on our Singapore idol runner up Sylvester Sim using a Zakk Wylde signature Gibson Les Paul for his photo shoot.

Was at Swee Lee Music (Bras Basah) yesterday trying out some of the telecasters there when I saw a Epiphone copy of the guitar mentioned above. That's when the shop assistant was kindly enough to give me some insight on the Sly experience.

Jason: Beautiful guitar. How's it from the original (Gibson)?

Saiful: Good. Sylvester bought the original one though.

Jason: He bought it??? (thought he borrowed it for the shoot) Must be expensive!

Saiful: Yah man. Dunno why he didn't buy this copy instead.

Jason: He plays guitar ah?

Saiful: Yeah. (hands strumming an air guitar, probably trying to say that Sly just sing and strum)
