Happy Lunar New Year! New lessons blog.

Hi all,

Happy lunar new year! Time to work out those legs and arms and go visitng to get those fabulous red packets!

As you may have already noticed, I've changed the look of this blog and lost some of my customizations in the process... Well I'll definitely try to get the tagboard up asap.

Another thing that you may have noticed is the frequency of my post. The thing is i'm managing multiple blogs... I've created another blog specifically to highlight some things that were taught during private lessons with my students. Please feel free to come visit that blog at

http://jasonguitarlessons.blogspot.com

As such, guitartalk will be focusing more on highlighting certain techniques that some artiste employs or simply just a place to introduce and share some thoughts on some artiste/websites/tools that i've stumbled across. So do come back to check out for any updates.

For those of you who are more techno-inclined, you can subscribe to my guitar blogs rss feeds below:

Feature: Steve Vai - Tender Surrender video

Tender Surrender Music Video courtesy of Google Video

Note: Pause the playback and let the video streamed into your computer first before playing it again for smooth uninterrrupted playback.

This is one of my all time favourite song from Mr Vai. It's got this great build up from the beginning to the end so don't get bored in the beginning. Mr Vai's really an entertainer at heart which can be seen in his expressive (literally) playing...

An interesting to note about the song is that it's played mostly based on Pentatonic notes which has it's roots in Chinese music. Trying singing some chinese lyrics over the melody line and you would have translated it into a chinese ballad. ;)

Enjoy!

Problems with YouTube videos

Hi all,

Sorry for the lack of updates. I actually got Steve Vai series all planned out but as you can see from my last 2 post, the videos are missing! Aw man... must be some copyright issues... sometimes these copyright thingey's so frustrating. These videos actually help promote the artiste by distributing some of the materials through fans who're enthusiatic about letting others know about him/her...

Anyways, rest assured that I've got alternative posts coming up! Cheers! :)

Blessings,
